There are times in life when we get tired, sometimes lose faith and focus. The enemy is giving you everything he’s got. Trial after trial, circumstance after circumstance, but I am here to tell you don’t give up because you have help! I’ll show you now.
Isaiah 40:31 says
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
The key phrase in this scripture is “wait upon the Lord”. The term wait upon in this scripture means “to serve”.
So this scripture is telling me that if I serve God then I will:
1. Mount up with wings as eagles. An eagles wing span is very large and they have the ability to let the wind take them very high! Serving God will elevate you and take you places you never thought you can go. Not to mention in Proverbs 18:16 A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men!
2. Run and not be weary. This one kind of puzzled me because I thought how can running make you weary? It simply means that I can run hard after the things of God and not get tired, while serving him at the same time! Now that’s good news!
3. Walk and not faint. Hmmm?
The bible tells us in Galations 5:16 to “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” and in Galations 6:9 “and let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Walking in the Spirit while serving God keeps up from getting weak, dizzy, losing focus and consciousness or temporarily distracted. There is a reward when we endure temptation and we reap benefits by serving and not getting weary and giving up!
Now the question is, what does it mean to “serve God”? Romans 12:1 tell us “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service. You accomplish this by praying, reading, praising, and worshipping God, fleeing from sin, obeying God and keeping his commandments. Do good to others, help the poor, feed the hungry, etc.
So in this life that we live serving God clearly has its reward in more ways than one. I will leave you with this scripture 1 Kings 18:21 ” and Elijah came into all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; (serve Him)
