Day 1 of our 31 Day Proverbs Challenge
In studying this chapter. I learned the following:
1. The purpose of proverbs is to teach wisdom and to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives, to help to do what is just, right and fair. To give insight to the simple and knowledge and discernment to the young.
We should start teaching our children wisdom when they are young.
2. Wisdom is knowledge that is gained by having good experiences in life. The natural ability to understand things that most others cannot understand. (discernment) the ability to discern inner qualities and relationships. Mere common sense, good judgement.
3. The fear of the LORD is the foundation of true knowledge, (godly wisdom) but fools despise wisdom and discipline (worldly wisdom)
4. We should listen, learn and pay attention to correction and instruction because it will protect us from trouble and disaster.
5. It teaches us not to fall into traps that are set to make us fail.
6. Not to rush to commit evil deeds. Because you set an ambush for yourself. You are literally trying to get yourself killed. Such is the gate of all who are greedy for money; it robs them of life.
7. Wisdom cries out to us and if we ignore it disaster will overtake us Nd wisdom will then ignore us and not give us a way out. Ignoring wisdom you choose not to fear the LORD. You choose to live your own way so you must suffer for doing things your way.
8. But all who listen to wisdom will live in peace, untroubled by fear and harm.
Lord, give me wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Help me to stay in the fear and admonition of you. So I can live a disciplined and successful life. A life full of peace where no fear dwells! In Jesus name, Amen!
